1.
It’s worrying these things I’ve become And finding the strength to overcome The outlaw is thuggish reminisce This trespass is on a past remorse Holding onto water is like Holding onto her Without sense enough to stop I find, My hands are cupped for more Kindly step away from who you were Move quickly, the future holds so much more Holding onto water is like Holding onto her Without sense enough to stop I find, My hands are cupped for more Hold onto light This course you hold will need to end tonight There is always time There is always time to change the path you’re on Holding onto water is like Holding onto her Without sense enough to stop I find, My hands are cupped for more
2.
I take in the ceiling and count down the risks hear a loud knock and a heart empty kiss above our bodies followed by empty doll eyes how mine tear with screaming floorboards Rearrange my bones Break apart this stone Make this heart your home And rearrange my bones Pulse beats pulse, blood thicker than my own freezing in veins, gelid flashes of shadows darker in black cast from light better not left on now tell me, where is the switch where is the switch Rearrange my bones Break apart this stone Make this heart your home And rearrange my bones
3.
I’ve been here before The walk you took with me And my lying lips So sweet, furnishing retreat From all the blank stares At a wall and back quietly Whisper, hear my name My sins and pray for belief My sins and pray for belief My sin and pray By a river flowing blue, The skies we’re watching underneath All the words you thought I slipped On the ice and fell chinup deep These cuts that may not heal The words from love-lost saving grace Please, God, try and feel My sin and pray for belief My sin and pray for belief My sin and pray for belief From my life you left An impression of your pintucked wings Around my blackened hands To hold consuming all my dreams Of those pearly gates To the darkest parts of me for free Please, God, try and feel My sin and pray for belief My sin and pray for belief My sin and pray for belief Why won’t I get on my knees Why won’t I pray for belief Pray for belief… From my life you left An impression of your pintucked wings
4.
No need to apologize For walking out of this place Just left a hairline fracture Along the skies of my face You've got Semper Fi reasons For cleaning up your mess Left me with six months to think about Why I should be taking you back Please don't go higher There ain't nowhere to go Please don't go higher We're running out of road Dry creek indecision Marks the canyon between Dry creek indecision Keeps you from leaving again Please don't go higher There ain't nowhere to go Please don't go higher We're running out of road

about

The Great Perhaps' debut EP is a four track foreshadow. Genres apart, Payton and Mindrum confronted their musical and personal pasts to develop the technical, reverberating, and climactic sound of (Pr)Elude. This melodic introspection asks listeners to reminisce with Payton's lyrics about an ever-present past, the illusion of eluding it, and on looking towards a brighter future. The Great Perhaps have only just embarked on their journey and invite you along. This is the introduction, the prologue, the prelude. Are you intrigued? Are you curious? Will you keep listening? Perhaps.

The Great Perhaps is a three-piece alternative rock band, although sometimes they forget. Drummer Tuck Mindrum, bassist Stefan Johnson, and vocalist/guitarist Colin Payton are heavily influenced by blues, jazz, prog-rock, metal, and classic rock n’ roll music, which all bleed into their Band of Skulls/Silversun Pickups/Mars Volta sound. ... more
